    Description ORIGINAL 1943 SIGNATURE – GENERAL HEINZ GUDERIAN Original signature on letter dated 1943 to publisher E.S. Mittler & Sohn. “I am deeply grateful to the publishing house E. Mittler & Sohn for their kind letter of May 22, 1943. I am delighted that my small work is once again seeing a new edition, and I would be grateful if you would send me another 20 copies for presentation purposes.” Heinz Wilhelm Guderian (1888–1954) was a German general and key military theorist during Second World War, widely known as a pioneer of modern armored warfare and the “blitzkrieg” concept. Military Career: Served from before First World War and rose to become Inspector of Motorized Troops in 1936. Commanded armored forces in the invasions of Poland and France, playing a decisive role in the breakthrough at Sedan. Led the 2nd Panzer Army during Operation Barbarossa, but was dismissed after disagreements with Adolf Hitler. Later War Role: Reappointed in 1943 as Inspector General of Armoured Troops, tasked with rebuilding Germany’s tank forces. Became Acting Chief of the General Staff after the 20 July Plot and was involved in purges following the failed plot.
